Stealing at School

It is not uncommon to hear that students found their belongings stolen at school.

Actually, stealing at school can be attributed to several reasons. First, due to economic downturn, parents might give less pocket money to their children. In this case, children might not have sufficient money to finance their daily needs. Children steal because of peer pressure. Their friends and classmates always use brand name goods. They want to have them as well. Sometimes, children would like to show off in front of their classmates. They will chase the fashion. Besides they buy goods of the latest models. For example, teens like to chase the models of mobile phones. In fact, they believe that they might not be caught so they take the risk. So some children are very careless. They just leave their belongings behind, believing no one will steal them.

Students might lose off kinds of things, such as wallets or cash, because there are no special identifications of the banknotes. In addition, children could sell the valuables out easily, get the money and buy their favourites. Also, students may steal books, stationery and calculators, and students do not usually write their names on them, so they will keep them for their own use.

Undoubtedly, both schools and students can do some things to cope with the police. They can educate students in the assemblies to instill correct moral values in students, telling them it is wrong to steal and how to keep belonging safe. When students should not leave their belongings unattended, they can ask their friends to keep an eye on their belongings in case they need to be away. Moreover, schools should find out why students steal and give them help. They must punish repeated offenders seriously. And students avoid bringing too much money or valuables to school. Further, schools must step up patrolling; teachers and prefects should be on duty regularly to avoid thefts. Tell students what they need to do if they find tell things are stolen, so they want to report to teachers immediately. For serious cases, schools should not cover up the truth. Instead, they should report the cases to police.

To conclude, stealing at school could be resolved with every effort.
